Pros

Tips if you don't mind being a hustler

Cons

They claim they strive for customer service, but the stylists have to stop cutting to take turns at desk. 2. Likely the franchise owner has never snipped a lock of hair In their life. Think of them as pimps who make the person who paid to go to school work for minimum wage. 3. You will never build a clientele at GC as they discouragr requests. 4. The only way to increase your pay is to cut many heads and hopefully you'll get tipped. People bring their kids in with ratty hair, so you have to detangle it and maybe wash. A shampoo is $5, but blow drying is free, so you may spend 20 minutes extra doing that. You aren't paid commission, so you get to wear your arms out for no additional money. 5.After they make nice to break you in, they really push for haircut time as 12-17 minutes per client. Then you have to answer the phone or check someone out. What client likes feeling rushed? Newbies, if you want to stsrt out right, work as an assistant with an experienced stylist who will break you in and be a good mentor. A place like Great Clips will make you want to stop before you even start.

Pros

Good client base coming out of school. Guaranteed base pay. Get to have tons of people to hone your craft.

Cons

Part time status working full time hours. Depending on owner you get a low base pay that needs to be higher due to high cost of school and licensing. Long hour shifts and open Sundays.
