Pros

I have been with Great Clips for 18 years. It has been the best journey. I started out part time and now I am a General Manager in charge of 10 salons. Lots of room for advancement.

Cons

No complaints. I work with a wonderful franchisee. Each franchisee has their own set of rules which may differ slightly from corporate.

Pros

If you are just out of cosmetology school you will get lots of experience but not much training.

Cons

You will be taken advantage of- work a lot of over time, leaving early if it is slow and be called back an hour later if the Salon get packed. Miss lunch breaks because we have to keep our Wait times low. You won't get any other official brakes because the time down between customers is our break. I have worked 60 hours in a week and as low as 25 hours depending on how much staff we have at the time. When I am supposedly full-time? Salon go through stylist like it's water because of this you will have schedules fluctuatetion week by week. Lots of rules, can be very stressful, Little pay. If you do not fit in with management you will be disposed of as soon as possible. I have seen this time and time again. You will have a lot of pressure from your manager but most of that pressure comes up from the higher-ups. If you are in the Kansas City area and looking for a job and decide to work for great clips watch for the franchise owners. Do not work for Carpe Diem by far the worst. I work for work for a different franchise owner now. Cheap but not too horrible.

We are sorry to read this. As you mentioned, each salon is independently owned & operated by a franchisee who hires their managers. Your concerns would be best handled by your franchisee. You are welcome to email Jeanne@greatclips.com with the salon location where you are employed and details. We will provide your feedback to the franchisee for follow up with you. Thank you.
