Pros

Good place to gain experience and get your foot in the door. Working here teaches you time management skills and how to communicate with customers. This is a great opportunity to practice.

Cons

The biggest problem with Great Clips is the brand is all about quantity not quality. If you do a poor job your customer will not return therefore you are not building your clientele. Also the prices are so cheap you will never make what you deserve even if you work like crazy.

Pros

Very warm and friendly atmosphere and the General manager as well as co-workers were kind and always helpful. They also worked my college schedule wonderfully. And Its great for a Hairstylist out of school, you will grow craft wise at least.

Cons

never saw a pay raise the time I worked there. Were very strict and tight with sick days. They also did not offer health care which was a downer.

Pros

In the cosmetology field, there is a lot of competition between stylists. At Great Clips, that competition is minimal because you are paid hourly plus bonuses on productivity and products so you're not competing with other stylists....you're only competing with yourself to get that great paycheck. In great shops, there is multiple opportunities for education and growth, including the opportunity to move up the ladder.

Cons

During slower times, payroll becomes a concern for management and upper management so the hours you are given are not always the hours you need. Some franchises have expectations that are a little out of reach and don't always understand that sometimes it takes baby steps to get where you want to be.
