Pros

Fun, exciting, fast moving environment. Market leader.

Cons

Can be long hours, but I do not really see this as a "con". We are all working towards the same goal of expanding the company and most of the workforce are happy to work a few extra hours here and there to help us get there!

Cons

I started here about 4 months ago and was surprised how quickly things went downhill. Being so excited to work here and be able to help business's was great. Now the types of deal structures we are forced to do is not in the best interest of the business's. Yes it will bring in more profit for groupon and they are better "deals" for the consumer who is buying, however, if it is not good for the business's then its just not good. We have to structure deeper discounted offers and have multiple offers within an offer and that means LESS money to the business, they can't sustain the discounts. I used to get upset when business's say they didnt like groupon and it doesn't work. Well now I am starting to agree with them. Groupon clearly puts their positive sales spin on it to make them think its good but it doesn't sit well in my stomach. I ( we) reps have no control anymore on working with the business's to find the best offer. We have to do what our managers want to do and structure it to make groupon more money. This is not a fun place to be and even being in the field you are still micromanaged. Weekly calls with managers are now daily and even 2-3 times a day. Quotas and Commissions. I am less than 4 months and I have the same quota as other reps that have been in my territory for over a year. They clearly have been doing this longer have more accounts and experience selling this service than us new ones. I have never seen a company that takes a team quota and divide it the way they do. Its the lazy man's way to value performance. Motivation and morale is at an all time low. Maybe if Groupon spent more time appreciating and paying people for how hard they work they won't have such huge turnover. Don't they realize it cost more to interview, hire, train and ramp up new people? If you give realistic quota's and pay well you keep the good people. Instead of having them jump ship - get your life preserver your going to need it if you work here.
