Pros

The money is good. Period.

Cons

Excessively long hours. Low hourly wage but with over 100 hours per week, it adds up. As part of the new hire training, the camp manager comes in to tell you that you're all replaceable. No value placed on the people on the ground floor doing the work at all. No appreciation shown for being away from your families 18+ hours per day. No sense of security working there, people get fired for incidents that could be handled in other ways. When you start getting any seniority this is especially true. They don't like to have people that have over 10 years there.

Pros

Big company, multinational, lots of different subsidiaries - room to move up or move around

Cons

ethical wasteland - managers willing to sacrifice anything to get ahead witnessed illegal activities - retaliation when questioned short-term focus - three years is a long assignment - no long-term growth in vision sales is considered a 'profit center' but r&d technologists a major expense....

Pros

Fair benefits, interesting, smart, friendly coworkers.

Cons

A top executive recently went on a campaign/office tour to alert employees that management is monitoring employee hours (by badge time in/out) to ensure all employees are in the office working for 9 hours a day (includes lunch). Employees were firmly informed that those who do not comply will be terminated. Quotes from the meeting: "All employees are easily replaceable." "Halliburton does not have a work at home policy." At one meeting, one employee posed the question "I routinely have to work at home to collaborate with employees on the other side of the globe. What then?" The response was "That's your job." So, any hours worked at home is your contribution to the company. Furthermore, any doctor's appointment needs comes from an employees sick time (vacation time if child is sick.) If you are looking for a place to work that is progressive, trusting, and inspiring.. this is no the company for you.
