Pros

Fantastic opportunity to learn if you are inexperienced. There are some great perks for travel and dining discounts.

Cons

Management in general is very young and either first time experienced or years of experience within this corporation solely. I see lots of pressure from the top roles down into a panic frenzy to micro manage and meet Maritz customer satisfaction scores. It gets to the point that they forget about you as an employee or person. Some management has been poorly trained. Many hired based on their ability to be either a pawn or a dictator. Beware of properties without Union.

Pros

Working at a high end hotel provides a great deal of entertainment with the general public. You see the best and the worst side of life. If you can get vacation time you also get to travel to any Hyatt and stay for free, pick your location, Paris, LA, New York, you name it.

Cons

The hours are crazy and the turnover of workers ranges from 100 - 200% annually. The general feeling of management is there is always someone looking for a job so there is no need to pay well or treat them well. Every promotion is a chance to lower the pay scale.

Pros

Paid higher, at the time, than most in our job in the hospitality industry

Cons

No consistency on expectations, possibly because it was a new brand at the time. There was never time given to let a plan work for the company. Everyone, including senior management was on edge, so that stress trickled down to the individual hotel level.
