Pros

There are a lot of positives about working in IBM. IBM is global and growing, investing in high margin businesses with huge potential to grow revenue profitably. Relentless focus on cost-cutting and off-shoring jobs, while delivering savings, is demotivating for employees and represents the single-minded focus the company has on shareholders and investors, not employees. That balance needs to change or the company won't meet its revenue and profit targets because employees will start walking or running out the door.

Cons

Inability to reduce cost structures in EMEA due to European labor laws Lack of real recognition and compensation for top performers Relentless focus on cost cutting and too much focus on shareholders and investors, not employees

Pros

-Work from home option -Online learning opportunities -Breadth of different jobs because the company is so large

Cons

-Large company; you must search out opportunities to connect with employees on other projects -Management isn't always competent; people leave before waiting for a promotion and as a result, the least competent managers remain at the company -lower salaries / bonuses compared to other firms

Pros

Smart dedicated individuals. Heft of IBM behind sales and delivery teams. Global reach and solution set enable plenty of career opportunities.

Cons

Bifurcated sales and delivery create high levels of friction. Metrics (revenue, profit, signings) create constant battles between groups vying for credit. Solution approach frequently ignores customer pain points. Working from home approach creates disconnected culture, managing by remote control, and importantly, hampers the development of customer relationships/intimacy.
