      Pros

      IBM still does have a decent benefits package - Insurance, sick leave. Even though the cost is much higher that we have paid in the past, it is still much lower and coverage is better than what you can get on the outside.

      Cons

      Hours - management thinks that we should be living, dying breathing IBM. We are penalized for things that are out of our control. Lack of respect from management. Many feel that we do not have the intelligence to do our jobs.

      PC discounts, but you're sending your money to China (Lenovo)

      Cons

      Constant threat of your job being offshored, benefits package (especially medical) becomes more costly each year with less coverage. IBM also operates on the self-serve model of benefits, which can be difficult and frustrating to navigate.

      May still look good on a resume; learn about life in a large bureaucratic organization; extremely liberal work-from-home policy,

      Highly matrixed organization is very difficult to navigate. Learning curve for a new hire is daunting. Limited training opportunities aside from on-line courses; limited advancement or growth opportunities unless a top 90th percentile or better performer; extreme bureaucracy; much administrative work has been shifted to "exempt" employees who are a fixed cost; extreme aversion to potentially career-limiting acts makes it extremely difficult to effect change -- decision-makers only make the changes they absolutely must and leave others to The Next Person;
