Pros

Strict 9 to 5 mentality, although many people stay later in the office because they have no life.

Cons

This place is about as far away from a meritocracy as you can get. Very low caliber of employees, most of them had menial jobs in government or private sector before joining. No degree? No problem! Software people are considered junior by definition. It doesn't matter what you've done before of what title they'll give you. Anything below Director and you'll always be in the sidelines. Only two ways to have a career there: 1. Be an early joiner. Yep, length of service is rewarded above everything else for the early joiners. But unless you have a time machine, joining now and waiting a few years won't get you anywhere. 2. Be in a customer facing role. Quite akin to having salespeople from car dealerships running design and production, if you're customer facing you'll probably have a good career in this company, even if you have no other skills. Want to design software? No problem. Want your own team? Own projects? Sure. Of course the software is of terrible quality but that's OK because this isn't the core business of the company. It's the data. For many types of data, Markit is the only provider in the market. So its clients have to bear with the sub-standard software that delivers this data because they can't really get it from anywhere else. Bonus system is ridiculous and not transparent. You get a bonus based on how much people like you, no criteria, no goals. Being competitive doesn't mean team up and create a better product to claim more market share and solidify our reputation in the company. It means trying to marginalize colleagues to look like one person has done most of the work, even if the end product is just crap. To sum up, you're better off investing your time elsewhere.

Pros

Smart and friendly colleagues. No pressure but may depend on your project. Interesting projects. The company may fit very good for individuals who want to start in finance industry. Stable.

Cons

Salary seems to be below the average on the market. Terrible HR department. Cheap on custom employee requests. No 401k appreciation.
