Pros

Good "Indian" Brand in offshoring companies. A good process and MIS internally. Generally decent people. Some good ideas. In US, health benefits are okay, no matching 401K. Bonuses are paid based on real reviews. Not much Politics for middle level. You show results, you get CRR1, you may get bonus. Employee friendly.

Cons

Huge organization getting un-manageable. Very much beurocratic so exceptional performances are sometimes not rewarded which results in loss of talent for the company. Employee friendliness comes in the way especially for veteran employees who do not perform, show attitude and impede on results and growth of a group. In my group, consultants flatly refused to travel to US from India and sat on bench. We lost business. Sometimes lack of planned strategy for the group. A lot of "vapor-ware" based business without any real knowledge and experience backend. Lack of investments from resources point of view which is surprising given the offshoring model and people on bench in India.

Pros

Good opportunity to understand the offshore process for IT development projects and BPO There are many chances to work with the best and brightest people from all over the world. Travelling onsite is another great chance to see the world and also experience first hand, what it is like to work for other 1st rate companies as well. The facilities in India are truly amazing to see. Many of the buildings are replicas of famous buildings from all over the world. The average salary for Infosys rates up there with the best of them and company bonuses are usually very rewarding as well.

Cons

Employees are treated as just another number Process oriented in concept but reality is, it is very people dependent. the salaries for an offshore person travelling to onsite can be very rewarding, but for foreigners, the benefits are very minimal. Benefits such as insurance coverage, health club membership, transportation costs, etc., are things which the company does not provide any subsidation for when working at client location. I have worked for a few years and found that it can be extremely difficult to get a promotion just based on your performance alone. If you are fortunate to be in a team which has a lot of return on investment, that in itself, will most likely get you promoted.

Pros

* Opportunity for professional growth - the company entrusts you with multifaceted responsibilities * Provides sufficient non-financial freedom to perform your work (within company policies of course) * Provides a good platform for internal & external networking

Cons

* Too centrally controlled, almost extreme. Very low empowerment down the ladder * Lack of 'developmental' training * Poor knowledge management, you get information only through your informal networks * Work-life balance, & pay does not compensate for it * Filled with dead-woods, company does not do anything about, they survive and lots of times thrive by just managing their managers' perception * Inequitable work distribution
