Stay Away From JBS

Pros

It's good for the resume to work for a big-name company like JBS...if you decide to stay. The food industry is not going away. I really wish I had some more positive things to say about JBS, but honestly there is not much.

Cons

Management cares about money much more than it cares about its people. There are some in management that truly care for the employees, but overall everyone is more concerned about their bonuses than they are about you as an employee. You are expected to work six (sometimes seven) days per week and this never changes. If you are salaried, you can end up making less $ per hour than some of the production workers. If you are hourly, the overtime pay can be big, but you easily get burned out. Nobody is happy working six 12-hour days week after week. This all means little to no time for family at home. Overall, a terrible work-life balance. I don't see things changing at JBS and would not recommend working for this employer. The biggest "core value" I saw stressed by JBS was availability. They want you to be "available" not just by being receptive and open to challenge, but to literally be available Monday through Sunday. There is little appreciation or respect for what employees think about this. Those who seemed to care the most were on the HR team (some of which care and thoughtfulness was genuine and some of which was because HR bonuses were based on factors such as turnover and retention). You could not pay me double, or even triple, to go back and work for JBS again. I really wish I had some more positive things to say about JBS, but honestly there is not much. The Grinch said it best when he said " I wouldn't touch [them] with a 39 and 1/2 foot pole". Stay away from JBS.

Pros

Good opportunities to learn for a short term. Colleages are so nice. Office is spacious.

Cons

Low pay. No raise but more work. When someone leaves they will restructure the team and hire a new person at lower cost. Or, they will convince internal people to take the job so it will be cheaper and people end up leaving as they are not really happy with the job. No opportunities to grow. Too much hierarchical (might be Brazilian style). The boss doesnt care about your learning curve or any new skills you should get to improve yourself.
