      Johnson Controls seems like a good company, but they don't plug in new hires.

      Pros

      Most of the people are nice, the facility is nice. The incumbent personnel who have been there for a while are like a tight-nit family, and have a clear direction and sense of responsibility and accountability.

      Cons

      They seem to skimp when it comes to travel arrangements, tools you need to do your job. Management is not receptive to ideas, and they hold on to old technologies and programming languages, not employing the latest proven technologies, methodologies, and best practices. They expect developers to work well over 40 hours a week to compensate for still using procedural programming, and they wonder why deadlines are missed and bugs are prevalent.

      Pros

      Great products and good people. Unlimited online training materials and never a shortage of tools to do job. Mechanics are average with the York guys having no concept of contract profit. Techs are very green with more emphasis on profit over quality. After working there two times in ten years, there will be no third chance- life is two short.

      Cons

      Local management never in place long enough to make a difference.
