Pros

Decent pay. Profit sharing.

Cons

You end up giving your life to Kwik Trip as a Store Leader.

Pros

The profit sharing golden carrot, some of the people, it's one of the few large businesses hiring in la crosse.

Cons

Greed is king at Kwik Trip. You only get ahead by showing upper management how greedy you are and what you're willing to sacrifice for that greed. If it doesn't turn a profit, it doesn't matter. Prisons have more windows than the support center. The entire place is as cheap as the junk Kwik Trip served. Employees are worked to the bone with little benefit. Flex time? Maybe after you've worked here forever. Seniority is king, they don't like new ideas. Cronyism is rabid, a lot of positions are given based on how far up the ladder you know. This monoculture will eventually eat away the company from the inside out.

Pros

Opportunities for career growth are everywhere if you are hungry for it and demonstrate even basic competence at your job. Profit-sharing checks are certainly appreciated and welcome. Base pay is ok for retail with a guarantee of a yearly raise as long as you meet performance standards - not a difficult task if you put forth some effort. A job at KT demands a lot more than typical retail jobs - you will not just be sitting at a register all day - and coworkers are generally expected, within reason, to learn all basic positions in the store including customer service and food service.

Cons

Rapid growth over the last several years resulting in the original culture of KT dying away, increasingly replaced by typical corporate 'profits-over-people' attitude. Cult-like atmosphere at meetings that extol corporate virtues and exult the company. If you rise up into a store leadership role, expect poor-to-nonexistent work/life balance depending on your area. Retail is increasingly crunched for labor hours while work loads rise and burnout even amongst the rank and file is prevalent, yet profits have never been better (sound familiar?). District management is a mixed bag ranging from excellent to disinterested and willfully blind to conditions in the trenches.
