Great company with family values, but very high expectations
Pros
There are many great reasons to work for Kwik Trip, and for the most part, I enjoyed my time there. You receive extra bonuses, medical, dental and vision benefits for full time coworkers. Kwik Trip, as a company, was founded on strong morals and values, and you often see that carry through to the people you work with. Kwik Trip has a very particular behavioral based hiring and interviewing process, and looks for individuals who will work hard and carry out the mission statement. There are always, of course, a few who sneak through the cracks, and there is a high demand to fill positions with such a rapidly expanding company. Every now and then you will find yourself working with people you don't like very much, as I'm sure is common with every workplace. There are also some "veterans" who have worked with the company very long term and are not always as accepting of change, as Kwik Trip is always changing and evolving. Kwik Trip offers competitive starting pay along with all their great benefits, and in return expects that you work very hard to earn it. They believe in a roll up your sleeves work ethic. You can expect to make some lasting friendships working for Kwik Trip, as I believe the majority of Kwik Trip employees are exemplary folks.
Cons
As I mentioned in the pros section, you can expect to work very hard to earn your keep. Kwik Trip stores are usually very busy and fast paced. It is often challenging to complete daily tasks in between serving such a large customer base. Kwik Trip often makes changes to procedures and policies, which can be challenging to keep up with. You will deal with a wide variety of clientele, including some you'd rather not. If you are able to achieve a store leadership position, you will work 50+ hours per week. That is up to you how you feel about that. I feel it is not conducive to having time with your family, for a company that appears to be so family focused. Many tasks and goals are expected of you day to day, and for some, that can be a bit overwhelming to keep up with.
