Do you stand out?

Pros

This company is run well by a great, very humble family. The employees have annual leadership surveys to rate their individual Store Leaders and Assistants. These surveys are taken as a learning opportunity for the Leaders to ensure their employees are happy. It is possible to move up inside the company without a college degree. I consider this a huge benefit because I personally, willingly chose not to go to college. My personal salary matches and often exceeds other salaries which require a college degree. There is a great interview process which helps make the right decision for the company and individual stores. The interview is not about getting bodies in the door, it is about whether this person is going to be a good fit with this company.

Cons

As a coworker, if moving up inside the company is your goal, you have to find a way to stand out, as a individual, to not only your Store leader but also your District Leader. This is difficult. If you do not have a Store Leader who will boast about their employees, even the Assistant's accomplishments then more times than not they will go unrecognized or it will be assumed the Store Leader made the accomplishment themselves or under their direction.

I can't live on this

Pros

Very friendly, helpful people. Most customers are nice. Suggestive selling is not that bad

Cons

You start at 9.40 where I am but I got my first check and it was $340. I can't live on less than $700 a month. They won't hire for more than 28 hours but I've been getting 21-24. No such thing as full time, maybe the shift managers do. I don't know how they get away with no time to eat. Who is going to eat anything on 10 min you might not get? Finding it very hard to stand all day. This week I came in 6am-2, next week I work until 11 or 12 at night. Lousey benefits; they admit their health ins doesn't meet the ACA standards so if your state didn't expand medicaid you're screwed. And who can afford it anyway. Max vacation is 3 days, no sick days. Our store is extremely busy, I might have 10 seconds once or twice a day to get a drink of water. So far I've paid $30 for a shirt and $60 for work shoes or I'd die.

I feel like it is fairly easy to move up in the company (if you build good relationships with your store leader/district leader), fast-pace work environment, great bonuses

Cons

Always on your feet, can be tiring
