Pros

Free membership provided. Reduced prices at the cafe, which the food was great.

Cons

Director would not help out when other employees would not show up. Said director could not clean the floor because it was not her job. I fell and broke my arm and shoulder, along with detaching biceps & labrum. 4 years worth of pain.

Great for Part Time, not for Full Time

Pros

The free membership is clearly the biggest pro/benefit to working here. It makes working out and staying healthy very convenient. The community and friends that you'll make while working at the club level is great as well. There tends to be decent flexibility with scheduling, but it depends on what department you get into - that being said, even if you are hourly, if you have any level of responsibility, you're expected to be available to work at a moment's notice.

Cons

The company as an employer. Their team member retention tactics are terrible - constantly dropping team member discounts on products and services. After 3 years of full time work, I had only 7 days of PTO/year. I never made a sustainable living wage, so was constantly doing outside work to supplement income. Their mindset is to "create a FUN place to work and don't make money an issue!" But unfortunately, money is an issue, which is why this is not a sustainable full time job. As part time, its great because you can work a few shifts a week and maintain your membership, workout routine, and community. The leadership at the club level does work hard to make it a hospitable work environment, but upper/senior level management doesn't seem to have a care in the world. The policies that they create that need to be upheld at the club level cause undue stress on the team member when dealing with irate members. Either way, there are some people who absolutely love and thrive in this type of environment. Obviously there are, or the company would not still be in business. There are definitely some things they can do better as an employer.
