Pros

Pay and benefits is great. Name value is nice.

Cons

No work-life balance. They overload people with tasks and expect it to be done. In an environment full of people who normally spend over 80 hours a week working, 120-hour workweeks are normal. Work is done not based on responsibility but on basis of cred. If you are new, you arnt very valued, and people feel free to offload work on you and not give you credit for the same. Not every manager is good or understanding. Some dont care cause they are "busy", so weekly check-ins can get cancelled on the whim. People work on cred, in the sense that if you are older, you might get quicker responses from your XFns but otherwise, people wont answer for 24 hours sometimes, and this is where work might take a hit. Everyone is so packed that its hard to find time for life. They also might relocate people to offices that the team isnt operating out of. Being isolated and lonely is normal and they will throw the counselor at you like the benefits should fix the issues. They want people of the same level to show similar levels of impact, but the pay disparity is based on area of expertise. A person making 150k has less incentive to make the same impact as the person making 700k , just cause they are the same IC level. Lastly, if you try to speak up against a member no matter how bad the harassment is, you will get laid of. Its more cult-y than a normal workplace in certain teams. The pay does not justify the lifestyle for a person in their 20s and early 30s with a social life and ambitions.

Pros

Big Company, with a lot of opportunity if you are on the right team and have a good manager

Cons

Leadership is lost. AI craze has made leadership stop valuing people. The culture has gotten very toxic. Everyone is afraid their jobs will disappear in 3-6 months. Its lost all sense of self.

Pros

1. Good pay 2. Free food 3. Smart colleagues and manager 4. Interesting work

Cons

TL;DR: You work ridiculous hours for a project that can get stopped at any point. You stop caring as much, but still need to put in many hours to not get bad rating at PSC. Even if you do all that, you could still be done by the next layoff. 1. Terrible WLB (40+ hours per week at least). Never turn off, you need to deliver impact. Even worse with AI. 2. Leadership has no idea what they're doing. Frequent reorgs. Cancelled projects once they're near completion. Disincentivize ownership, incentivise rest and vest... 3. ...which would be fine but for PSC. Terrible terrible process. People stop working for a week to just write their PSC. Managers work weekends and go off grid for 2 weeks for PSC. 4. And lastly, continuous layoffs.
