Pros

Right place right time, market opportunity

Cons

Product innovation struggling, bad mid level managers who either don't have experience or skills. Exec team has no idea how to build relations with customers and for most part are bad at following up. Senior leadership just knows how to give big talks to employees and have no idea where the reality is, how to make a customer successful. Not really investing in the skills required by customer success team. Absolute lack of technical chops in customer success is hindering scale of the organization and a lot of workload on Services team. Product has scalability issues. Really long hours and your work goes completely unappreciated.

I'm sorry for the difficulties you're experiencing. Please know that I would be happy to talk through your concerns anytime in person. As the MuleSoft product, the company, and our customer base have grown significantly over the past few years, so have the charter and required skills of the Customer Success team. The mission of Customer Success within MuleSoft is to be the ultimate advocates for our customers and ensure they achieve their outcomes with the MuleSoft solution, sometime through direct engagement and sometime by ensuring they are engaged with the right resources across MuleSoft. Technical enablement has not traditionally been a central part of the Customer Success skill-set but that is changing. We are now aggressively recruiting and hiring technical resources on both the architecture and product side and expect to be able to drive much more direct technical enablement out of Customer Success. Appreciate your candid feedback and more than happy to sit down and discuss this in person.

Pros

Tons of great people and friends, really intelligent group of people, executive team truly cares about mission, feedback generally well received and acted upon.

Cons

Murky promotion path, too many barriers to hiring someone (great candidates often turned away for trivial reasons), sometimes political.

Thanks for the feedback! Hiring amazing talent is the biggest contributor to our growth and amazing culture. I understand that having such a high hiring bar means that the interview process tends to be longer and more involved than most, and it's something we're working to improve while maintaining the integrity of Muley DNA. To help with this, we also recently just launched a tool to provide more clarity and a direct path to internal opportunities and promotions, we're hopeful that will help. Thanks again for the feedback and stay tuned!

Worst company for Sales Reps. Period.

Pros

Intelligent people, high bar for hiring, fun work environment, lots of focus on training.

Cons

If you like gambling with your sales career, by all means go for it. If you want to work somewhere where the line between being a successful sales rep and sitting on the bench is entirely due to chance, then work here. MuleSoft has a very academic, theoretical feel to it - but at the end of the day they think much higher of their culture and their products than the market does. When 80% of your reps are not even close to making quota, that's a bad thing. If you are presales or a solution architect, this could be the best job you'll ever have. You can pick and choose which projects to attach yourself to and have a blast. If you're a sales rep and actually want to make a living, run away fast!

It's unfortunate you had a poor experience in your time here, and I wish I'd had more insight into your concerns. We do focus a lot of resources on training and development, which is why most of our team are actually close to or over quota. However, as we are growing fast and training new Account Executives on a relatively complex solution and outcome-based approach, we sometimes make mistakes or miss the mark. Onboarding is certainly something we see as a critical component to our sales professional's success, and we are constantly iterating on our process to improve that experience. Thank you for the reminder to look more closely at that aspect of our organization.
