High performance organization

Pros

Extremely smart co-workers, dedicated and on-point executive staff, huge market, good technology that keeps getting better. Impact is expected and ownership is encouraged, and the team is all pulling in one direction together. Management is very people oriented, and the company values its people highly. Great office, good perks, solid benefits.

Cons

High intensity/long hours; this is not a 40 hour a week kind of place. Workload isn't always well distributed, so some people end up pulling a lot more nights and weekends than the mean, and also become bottlenecks. Management should be better/faster about parting ways with low performers; when needed (rarely) we tend to manage people out instead of confronting the situation. Compensation is solid, but not as tied to performance and impact as it should be.

Pros

Love this place. It's full of smart, driven, fun people. The CEO's number one priority is hiring and our culture and you can feel it when you walk into the office. Great perks and compensation. I would recommend it to any friend.

Cons

The challenge is the long hours, but everybody knows that this is how our company is going to win.

Big Facade

Pros

Good benefits, free food, free beer, beautiful office. There are also a lot of smart, interesting people here that are a delight to work with.

Cons

There is a big show put on to candidates that displays an inspiring culture and great outlook for the company. It's half true; the company will most definitely do well- they provide a great service in a largely ignored market. The culture, however, is a farce. There is no 'start-up' feel. To get anything done, one has to through processes and chains of command that move slower than 2g. One is constantly micro-managed by VP's that are stretched to thin to do their own jobs as it is. You're expected to work 60+ hours a week, and if you don't, your dedication is put under scrutiny. They hire the same people, from the same colleges- there is no diversity in personality, color, or ideas. They constantly criticize their big name competitors, yet are fast moving in a corporatized direction that mimics them.
