Managers from hell

Recommend
Business Outlook

Pros

Reasonable pay and good perks - health cover, share plans etc, WFH til June, flex days.

Cons

Insecure, incompetent, disrespectful, bullying micro-managers. Promotion appears to be only for sycophants in certain teams, with outstanding performers overlooked time and again. Incredibly the top tech guy was taken on despite not knowing C++, when we're a C++ shop. I still struggle to believe this unfathomable decision. Due to the inability of several managers to even do their assigned role, the actual productive team members have to do their work for them. Meanwhile everyone's time is wasted by all the meetings the unproductive managers schedule in order to attempt to appear useful.

Pros

Good benefits, inspiring CEO, developing culture

Cons

You will be stressed and overworked here because the company has not addressed its fundamental operational issues: siloed teams, too many emails, too many meetings, bad investments in project management tech, poor project planning and communication, no operational experts or project management office, low-skilled HR leaders who are easily manipulated by expensive external consultants
