An Overall Poor Experience

Pros

The individuals working at Niantic are wonderful people that making working there overall meaningful and worthwhile.

Cons

The infrastructure of Niantic as a company has ballooned and they have doubled the entire size of their company over the past two years alone. This seems impressive, however the detriment to this growth is that most in senior positions at the company are either entirely new or haven’t accommodated to that scale and tend to micromanage their employees as if it were still a small startup. The entirety of the company succumbs to crunch as well, especially on the games teams where deadlines are tight and the product pipeline is immature.

Pros

Company genuinely cares about employees Incredibly low amount of crunch (worst I've had in 5 years has been 50 hour week) Great pay Great benefits Good mission

Cons

Could use better game design and game mentality in executive levels Employees complain a lot. Really toxic environment with a negative echo chamber. People don't know what crunch actually is.....
