Pros

- work life balance is absolutely encouraged with generous vacation and time off policies. No weekend emails or work. - independence. Leadership is trusting and empower you at every level to take on projects that you want to take on. You can do anything, be anyone at Niantic which is an amazing feeling to have that trust. - inspiring culture and meaningful products. It really feels like a family, the social mission of Niantic permeates across the entire company and it feels great to show up every day to do a job where we know we are making people lives better, getting people outdoors, and using tech for good. You can feel the energy at all hands meetings where that cohesion towards a common good together is felt.

Cons

Niantic used to be disorganized from a process standpoint, with the growing pains of a startup scaling, the company didn’t know how to get itself to the next level and people were strained across too many projects, with management not knowing how to scale themselves either. With new leadership over the last year however, the company has really gotten to the next level. Documentation is there, process is there, alignment on strategy is there and the operationalization and focus of the company is impressive. Finally we are seeing great products shipping (Lightship and new games) and what used to be cons are no longer.
