Okta is a well-known SaaS vendor with a strong market presence, but its journey has been marked by challenges, particularly during the integration of Auth0. The acquisition was fraught with issues, as Okta’s traditional sales methodology clashed with the developer-centric approach that had driven Auth0’s success. Marketing efforts targeting developers—key influencers for Auth0’s adoption—were insufficient, further hindering its potential. Additionally, commercial and technical synergies between the two products proved difficult to identify, creating integration challenges that affected both teams and customers.
