Pros

Good compensation when you start but not much progression otherwise lunch benefit when going to the office is very good

Cons

generally treated poorly by American staff with the expectation that when they say jump you say how high. this extends to other staff in India who are treated notably worse on calls. this can extend to clear favouritism for people who've worked in the company for over 10+ years with most staff in Ireland being relatively new with the us time difference you may be forced to take after hours calls or get stuck in useless calls late in the day which have no bearing on your day to day work. the work itself varies a lot of it is boring work on legacy code working on obscure US health insurance areas. there is a lack of appetite for innovation meaning you can get stuck in repetitive tasks because that's how the planning decided the tasks should be done months ago bonuses are generally low with the excuse being that the year before had poor financial performance but if the company does well they change that to the current year or 2 years ago whichever is worse there is a corporate focus on SAFE methodology which if you've worked with it would know to avoid as a developer it's too regimented and agile in name only

Pros

the benefits are ok, the 401k plan is pretty basic and they don't match a very generous amount, certain roles can be fully remote

Cons

there's literally not enough time or space to express the negative experiences that I have had at this company. I have never had the feeling ever during my tenure here that anybody actually cared about me in any way whatsoever. throughout COVID especially the only words that I can really use to express how they have treated me is exploitive, aggressive, harassment and disrespect. The team I was on, as part of a state contract, really separates themselves into cliques and if you're not part of a certain click you are essentially not important to anybody and especially the managers do not care at all what you have to say or your input. they use all the right words like saying that they appreciate you that they care about their employees and that they value you contributions but in reality "management" believes they can never be wrong and that their words are the absolute epitome of correctness. a common phrase they will uses that "we are a team" however they do not operate as a team, The operate as a set of entities where one group believes they are more important than everybody else and will treat the other groups as if they're nothing and nobody. this unfortunate sentiment is perpetuated by the managers and not address no matter the circumstances. Teams actually trust care and respect one another but instead in this place they would rather exploit harass and abuse people. In My experience it was not an isolated incident but an ongoing and perpetuating circumstance of negative interactions with multiple groups within this contract.

Pros

Generally good people to work with. You can learn a lot here by getting plugged into complex projects. Nice to help keep health insurance affordable for people. No shortage of problems to solve!

Cons

HR and supporting functions are lazy/incompetent. One of the only multinational companies in the area that doesn't allow you to work from abroad, which is insane. Recruitment processes are nightmares for candidates. Unwilling/unable to keep up with global inflation trends.
