Pros

Great opportunity to work in a highly international environment. The role includes occasional business trips, which is a nice perk. The company offers a competitive and relatively strong benefits package. There is a fantastic work culture on the ground. The local colleagues in Belgrade are incredibly friendly and supportive, making the day-to-day work enjoyable.

Cons

The tech stack feels significantly outdated, with much of the core architecture appearing to be over a decade old. In my experience, there is a noticeable lack of technical leadership regarding infrastructure upgrades or modernizing code. From my perspective, the leadership lacks a clear, modern vision for product development. Decisions often seem driven by internal company politics rather than critical thinking or market innovation. The business operates on a rigid top-down model where decisions are centralized in the US and Israel. This often leaves lower-tier studios to simply execute orders without room for professional input. There appears to be a pattern of dismantling structures once a studio is deemed expensive, moving operations to lower-cost regions like Vietnam. This creates an environment of high anxiety and low job security. In my opinion, the departments leading product development have struggled to adapt, which seems reflected in the downward trend of revenue. I found the tone of several company meetings to be quite jarring. The pro-war rhetoric and political stances expressed regarding the conflict in Israel felt insensitive and created an exclusionary atmosphere for those who prefer a neutral, professional workplace. Career progression feels heavily restricted by geography. In my observation, talented professionals in regional studios hit a glass ceiling and are rarely considered for global or advanced leadership roles.

Not so great

Pros

No delays in payment. Lunch. Always food and beverage. Refund of parking expenses retroactively. Clean office, great tech, interior, desks and chairs. Great tech support, laptops, help, screens. Good meeting rooms. I met some great people there, work in high quality and learned a lot, and we became friends. All taxes payed, all logistics legal, by the law and on time.

Cons

Open space. Low salary in comparison to the world, not so bad for Serbia. No seniority ladder. You can't really develop if you are not the part of the "clan". No bonuses or salary raise for the past 3 years, although all my skills are developed. Yet, hearing constantly promises. Ask and diplomatically forced to do more in order to be in a "Achieved expectation" group at your performance review. Minor mistakes which are ordinary are put on a pedestal, while your achievements don't shine bright as they should. Your development strictly depends on your manager and if he/she feels "threaten" by it, he/she will constantly delay answers or sabotage your development, pretending not to hear your complains or unhappiness. You need to constantly remind them you are not happy and when you say you will resign if nothing changes, perhaps they will think about it? I know cases where they totally ignored the employee even then. The whole company functions by the "sycophant" system. If you are not like that, there is no development for you. You can't develop if you don't do management. Not all of us are built for that and not all of us want that. That is not a reason we should work under the same conditions for 3 years, don't you agree?
