Pros

Being the industry leader comes with benefits, like having lots of bestsellers and great authors. Those translate into fantastic benefits for employees, like generous vacation policy, flex time, etc.

Cons

It's a big publishing company, so you have to really go for what you want or risk getting edged out. There is little room for coasting. And don't expect a lot of transparency.

Pros

The people who are good, are very good. Excellent vacation time and benefits.

Cons

It's not a good place to be at the bottom of the totem pole. The pay is pitifully low, the standards are incredibly high (you will be working late with no overtime pay regularly), and it is difficult to move up. Zero transparency from the executives, who care more about saving their necks in a fizzling industry than the people who work for them.
