Pros

There are some really good people working here for the time being, but staff is being cut and people are overworked and overstressed and looking to get out.

Cons

The office is half empty. It seems that every other week someone, or a whole group, is terminated. Staffs are cut, budgets are slashed yet near impossible production expectations are maintained. It's clear that the parent company cares little about the company or the employees. VP management and above strut around the office like peacocks and enjoy celebrity like perks. However they provide little to no direction, and often front line employees are blamed for the failures when they follow said direction. The company lurches from one directive to the next as the VPs come up with the next great idea. Middle management has devolved from working together to sniping each other and not cooperating to further the standing of their VP. Operationally the company is in shambles. Many employees need to work huge amounts of overtime weekly with little or no appreciation shown. It's not uncommon to see workers putting in twelve hour days and working weekends until they are literally making themselves sick. Add to that a low salary level that is supposed to be made up with a bonus structure. In my time I've seen two bonuses paid, one six months late. The bonus structure is not open, and has not been paid in almost a year. The general consensus is that it doesn't actually exist anymore.

Pros

My experience has been different than what others have been through as I work very independently and keep to myself.

Cons

Not a lot of stability, internal advancement is poor (they would rather higher outside the company at a higher salary),

Pros

The people are (or were) the best thing about Playboy. The work environment was generally casual. The holiday parties were pretty fantastic for the first few years. Sometimes, you have travel opportunities. You occasionally meet models and celebrities.

Cons

The corporate part of this company often threw employees under the bus. The pay was on the low end of the median. Holiday bonuses? Forget it, because Christie Hefner "didn't believe in them", so now it's corporate policy. Every few years, there were rounds of unneccessary layoffs instead of CEOs and VPs taking paycuts, they were getting raises and golden parachutes. During my last few years, the company started converting into an "intern factory" to save more money. People continually left the company, wanting to leave a "sinking ship". After bringing the company private, the biggest mistake they made was moving production outside of the US and closing the Chicago headquarters.
