Pros

Many other opportunities within RBC.

Cons

It is a very hostile and negative work environment, employees are always sad and no one wants to be there. This is because of the way management treats the employees. Management is very controlling and you are constantly micromanaged. You can’t even go to the bathroom without being questioned. There is a lot of favouritism in this department and you will never advance to a better position with some of the managers. They don’t really care about the wellbeing of their employees, they will always put the “business needs” first even if it’s at the expense of their employees mental health. Vacation time is HORRIBLE compared to other banks. Shifts are also horrible and only the favourites will get a good shift. Even if your performance is high, you will get screwed over if you don’t suck up to your manager. They treat employees like children, making them change desks every other month like it’s middle school. They will tell you about a potential raise you can get once you become “universal” aka fully trained in all the skill sets. However, once you become universal (which takes a year) they take another 6 months to actually give it to you - and you’ll have to nag your manager for it. They no longer allow employees to do overtime as a way to earn extra money. Only a couple of the employees are allowed to do OT ( the favourites). If a customer escalates a call - even if you did nothing wrong - management will blame you. This will negatively affect your end of year bonus. Bottom line, this is not a good work environment and I would look elsewhere.
