Pros

The brand is strong, the profits are high and the people are by and large solid. RBCs bonus and stock plan are solid and encourage loyalty. As someone in a stage of life in need of consistent and predictable earnings and job security, RBC offers that in spades

Cons

There is a lot of vocal resentment from the masses of employees who have plateaued in middle-management roles. There is an us-vs.-them mentality and it is often understandable given the modest annual pay increases combined with the fact that tenured employees are being asked to do much more than in decades gone by and learn new skills. If you are highly-skilled and motivated, you should also be a great networker and self-promoter. There is a lot of cannibalism between the banks and a high % of roles are given to externals
