While being at a large company means that there are many more opportunities for advancement, it can also mean that at times, certain jobs can be very narrowly focussed. This can be a challenge for people who like variety, however, it does create an opportunity to hone certain expertises.
Also, being a large company, creativity and independence can be somewhat stifled. Good, progressive ideas can become lost in the mass entanglement of corporate politics. This, however, is not a negative atmosphere, just one with competing priorities. There is no air of maliciousness whatsoever to this fact of reality.
There is also a disconnect between head office and the RBC branch network which I feel can at times limit career opportunities for people working in the branch network.
