      A changing Japanese company

      Pros

      -Professional, dedicated coworkers and truly world-class talent -Company's upper management is truly dedicating to changing the way business works in Japan -Mikitani is a brillaint man that went to Harvard and truly understands how the business world works -Englishnizastion has made a lot of progress in two years -Free lunch -Lots of opportunities for hard-working young people and foreigners -Shinagawa is a beautiful part of Tokyo I would -not- recommend this company to someone unless you are willing to work hard. Don't go in expecting a Western workplace, despite the recruitment promises.

      Cons

      -Many middle managers are supporting a broken status quo -Work/life balance is typical of a Japanese company -Partnered staff often speak no or very little English -Bureaucratic processes and repetitive meetings need an organizational rethinking and unification procedures -Level of English still is far from where it needs to be -Pay rate is well below market, but that's changing

      Pros

      The executive of this company managed to move this company from a project driven company with no future into a product company that makes everyone working there proud of being part of this change. The fun is about to start here and the growth is going to skyrocket. I am happy I stayed to witness this and be part of it.

      The cons were some initial employee of this company. I am glad they are no longer here
