Pros

International brand recognition Well known games

Cons

Do not respect your time - Productivity is measured in hours so it does not matter how much work you complete or the quality of that work as it is only briefly peer-reviewed if at all. Father's are called in on father's day to do average priority work (luckily I have no kids). Boys club / Frat mentality - Every time I detail the horrors that happen here my review gets taken down for community guidelines. I'll let that speak for itself. (This is my third attempt to review) Disorganized - The design team received an email on Sunday at 5pm saying all outstanding work was due by the end of the day and the leads only just found out. Decisions are made by a committee of informal shotcallers from all departments, right down to every detail. They do not communicate with each other which means things change every week or even daily and blame is constantly shifted around for missing deadlines. In one case a manager's emails were being forwarded to another employee, written for him, then sent back for mass distribution under his name. However bad you think Rockstar is, it's worse in terms of disorganization. Little innovation in the product. They have been shipping GTA III clones since 2001 and while the graphics of the product do become more and more impressive, don't expect to have creative freedom against the top brass in even the smallest details or any attempts to push the envelope.

Pros

Good middle managers. A lot of smart co-workers to learn from.

Cons

While Rockstar has not had layoffs, once the other companies started laying off employees Rockstar slowly became less employee friendly as the labor market has shifted towards employers holding the power. They are strictly enforcing a mandatory 3 day in office but I would not be surprised if they eventually have people come in 5 days a week again. It is not unique to Rockstar but they talk about all the benefits they offer employees when in reality a lot of the benefits are mainly things that look good on paper but aren't really used much by the employees. As they get closer to the release of the next title they have mentioned I'm sure the work life balance will suffer a lot even though they have been hiring to avoid that I'm sure it's unavoidable especially if they announce a release date. The funny thing about forcing people into the office is that some employees wouldn't even work with people in their office so it's pretty pointless but it seems Rockstar has went with the all or nothing approach to return to office.

Pros

R* demands absolute perfection and they will get the most out of you. The place definitely helps you develop a thick skin and a stamina for brutal crunch weeks (or months or years) and deadlines.

Cons

There's a lot of negativity here. People get depressed, fat, sleep deprived, and generally worse for the wear. It can be frustrating to put so much into projects and have the feedback be uselessly abusive.
