Pros

Good benefts, health insurance, time off, bonuses, well-developed HR program.

Cons

Management is becoming driven from the top down. Lower managers are trying to produce numbers for upper management. By so doing, they are driving employees to produce numbers. The customers are starting to lose out as a result. You can't take time for the customer because it will hurt your metrics. The training is great at first, but after 3 months they default on seeing and providing the real ongoing training needs. It starts to be a game of producing numbers because the upper management has decided that these numbers mean the company is going to profit. It gets to the point where lower management is resorting to dishonest means to try and produce the numbers. If something is important, but it isn't part of the numbers that the lower managers are trying to produce, it will be neglected because the lower managers are trying so hard to produce the numbers they can't afford to consider anything else.

Sage needs to change

Pros

Some nice people, and good friendships. Pretty decent benefits plan.

Cons

There a lot's of "do as I say" style leaders willing to do whatever it takes to achieve an objective as long as that "whatever" does not require change or looking at problems in a different manner. Every product offered by Sage is based on exceedingly outdated technology. Few web-based products and Sage completely missed the entire SaaS boat. Sage rotates General Managers of their Biz Units in a manner that might lead you to believe that either there was something wrong with their hiring process or that GMs are scapegoats for poor strategc decison making.

Pros

The best times weren't specifically with Sage since I worked for a company that Sage purchased, so prior to that life was great. It wasn't awful when Sage came along, so the "best" reasons to work for Sage? Today? Would be to simply have a job since the unemployment rates are aso high.

Cons

Being told your input is so needed and valued, and then to see the negative reaction and/or be outright ignored when you have enough guts to do so is quite degrading. Do what you're told, fake like you care, follow the leader, for me, those were downsides.
