Pros

Good for building up a clientele, flexible hours

Cons

Time off policy & benefits are not good. All of the stylists wish we had set hours/days instead of a different schedule every single week. I've also been here 3+ years and have never gotten a raise, which has been hard on all of the employees. They changed the pay structure a few years ago, whereby we used to get pretty decent bonuses on our paychecks every 2 weeks for service upsells and product commission, but now the barriers are MUCH higher, making it nearly impossible to get bonuses anymore, which has also decreased our overall income.

You can make okay money

Cons

They like to burn out employees but hate giving them overtime pay, they focus on quantity instead of quality, management will guilt trip you to come to work when you are sick, there is no work life balance at all, they expect you to do a haircut in less than 15 minutes but if you get a bad review online they punish you, stressful and overstimulating work environment, management is unapproachable and contradictory of what they say or teach, they take away chairs to sit down in and expect workers to be standing all day, pay is okay but not good enough for the stress and hard work and the muscle aches I get after work. They let rude clients walk over the stylists and won’t give us the freedom to turn those people away, if you are fresh out of school they throw you on the floor without proper training and then punish you if you mess up, management will not take employees frustrations and feeling in consideration. Benefits are garbage.
