Pros

The people: everyone I've worked with is friendly and passionate about science and publishing. The brand: I feel very proud to work for an employer with a mission to inform/educate and progress science. The commitment to diversity: it is the first time in my 10-year recruitment experience (and previous publishing experience) that I am part of a company that is trying so proactively to increase diversity and be truly inclusive. There is a great support system through the Employee Networks and lots of training available about DEI. International publisher: since I joined Springer Nature I have worked with colleagues from all over the world which is the best part of my job, being able to learn and connect with different cultures on a daily basis. The chance to have a say: there are regular events where we can ask senior leadership questions and have a say. I feel like I matter which wasn't the case when I worked in another publishing house previously. Training opportunities and career development: again, this is a big focus at Springer Nature and employees are encouraged to develop/learn/apply for other positions within the group. The office: the London office is very cool, very convenient location and very nice space. We also have access to a small subsidised canteen/cafe which is handy and cheap.

Cons

Like a lot of big companies, it can be risk-adverse which means that it is sometimes a bit slow to change and some processes can seem redundant. But it's still a forward-thinking compared to a lot of publishing companies. And that means also a lot of stability so half con/half pro.

Thank you so much for sharing. We do have a good focus on colleague well being and health and flexibility all form part of this. We do have extensive resources to support colleagues where we encourage our talented colleagues to grow their abilities and careers with us. We want to make it easy for you to participate equally and be the very best you can. In some regions change is happening a little slower than others but we're working on it. Thank you again.

Pros

The work environment is nice. Good office location.

Cons

Progression is poor. The salaries are low, and salary increases are minimal. The company opposes salary transparency. No real reason to stick around other than the relaxed environment.

Thanks for sharing. Our culture and working environment is great and our London Office located very centrally with prime access to the hub of Kings Cross. Disappointing to hear your views on progression as this is something we focus on as career development is critical to our strategy to retain our best talent. Roles are advertised and if you're proactive there should be options for all to review and progress. You will hear more about this in the next few weeks. Salaries are carefully benchmarked against our competitors and reviewed regularly.
