Pros

There are can be awesome people but smart ones quickly realize it is not the place to be and leave. All smart/ambitions people leave pretty quickly realizing how sh*t of a company SN is.

Cons

SN is truly the worst publishing house to work for. Salaries are so low, they are definitively not proportionate to the workload. Everything is being automated and sent to India, so all US and UK editors will be replaced by Indian outsources (just like they replaced all editorial assistants a few years ago). Commissioning targets are super high and unrealistic. Editors have to put zero thought into reading/evaluating proposals since their workload is so bad. AVOID.

Sorry to read your review and your perspective of Springer Nature. Disappointed to read this particularly as Springer Nature is truly a people business and our work touches millions of people every day. We are proud of our fantastic colleagues and the communities we work with as well as the wider public who benefit from the research we publish. Like any global business we are looking to make efficiencies but we are also committed to retaining our talented colleagues who are made up of dedicated, passionate and highly trained colleagues. Our salaries are benchmarked to the industry standards and our flexible and generous benefits prove popular (hybrid working, Workation to name just 2). Interestingly our turnover is quite low globally and work life balance is proving very popular with colleagues who enjoy the dynamic culture.

Toxic. Toxic. Toxic

Pros

There are some decent, hard-working people around. Office is also nice and in good location.

Cons

This is by far the worst place I've ever worked. Colleagues are nice but management cannot be worse, making it a very toxic environment. I was in fact bullied out by my own manager. Mind you, this was not the first time it happended with the very same person, who is still there bullying everyone around. The problem must be systemic. Management is based on threats and insults. No interpersonal skills whatsoever. To the point that the person was uncapable of saying "good morning" to team members; only talked to other managers. Organisation skills are also null, which rose the level of stress and anxiety for the whole team. Not to mention constant attempts to put one team member against the other. My advice to anyone considering a job there - avoid at all costs for the sake of your own sanity and health. It is a toxic environment and pay is not great.

Not a good experience

Pros

No pros come to mind

Cons

Instead of being proactive, the company takes a reactive approach handling constant fires, emergencies and issues. Management is all about driving numbers so they don't value and respect you. You will deal with a lot of politics among departments too.
