Thank you for sharing. Our culture is great and we offer many flexible benefits. We also want everyone at Springer Nature to make a positive impact knowing that what we do supports our customers and commpunites. Our open, welcoming and supportive culture makes is much easier (and nicer) for all to partipcate equally, perform at their best and be themselves at work. We have a great work life balance and look to benchmark salaries within our industry regularly.

Pros

The editors of each Nature-branded journal. Each editor is very passionate and put the 110% in their daily job to support and serve the community they work with.

Cons

The executive team is completely detached from the day-to-day reality of each editorial employee. Morale for editors is always very low and is associated with constantly increasing workload, low salaries, the need to work overtime, and lack of recognition. The recent announcement for the switch from the 4:1 working from home policy (4 days at home and 1 day in the office) to 3:2 is sinking the morale, and possibly many talents will leave for better working conditions. The funny thing is that the Chief Publishing Officer of SN never published a single peer-reviewed research article in their life.

Nature continue to lead the world on impact and that is because of the great Nature team. Thank you for sharing your view on our hybrid work from home policy which has recently been updated so everyone globally has the same policy. For a time, we had a pilot scheme in place for 2 business areas (20% of our population) and, after listening to many of our colleagues via the engagement survey and other feedback, we decided to adopt a fair and consistent approach for all our colleagues around the world. We remain convinced that the positive impact of in person contact together with colleagues in the office 2 days a week supports our culture of being a great place to work, network and learn. Whilst this is a change for some colleagues, we hope that we can embrace this together. We made this decision for long term cuture, collaboration and career development. You may recall that we now offer 20 days per year workation days which allows for great flexibility to work and spend time with family and friends abroad. This has proved very popular. In reference to your comment about our CPO, it's simply not correct. He has published over 20 journal articles, books, conference papers and patents. Please also note that we steer our salaries in line with the labour market and constantly reivew these based on industry benchmarks.

Thank you for sharing. We are proud that our work touches millions of people every day; our fantastic colleagues, the communities that we support and the wider public who read and benefit from the research that we publish. Sorry to hear that you've recently had less positive experiences wth your local HR as we pride ourselves in being a progressive business and have a culture that enables people to perform at their best and be supported by their manager as well as HR.
