Pros

Some nice colleagues (but all leaving the business)

Cons

Undervalues employees and overworks them, more than double-hatting is the norm now and raising geographical scope and job responsibilities of frontline Level 1 work force that would be across multiple people in other companies without additional compensation - potential person of colour issue Too many graduates, apprentices and industrial placements doing the work of full-time employees with zero experience putting strain on delegated full time employees to train them No work life balance for some work level 1 and 2s Productivity plan impacts still ongoing, remaining colleagues leaving in October will expose more gaps Superficial line managers who delegate badly, prioritising networking the corporate ladder rather than managing and doing the role

Pros

With over 12.5 years of experience in operations management, I found working at Unilever in Maharashtra, India, to be very rewarding. During my time as an Operations Supervisor from February 2013 to December 2015, I managed daily manufacturing processes and workforce scheduling. I also contributed to implementing Lean tools, which improved cycle time by around 15%, enhancing overall operational efficiency. Working closely with the supply chain teams, I helped optimize inventory levels to ensure smooth production flow. The role allowed me to deepen my expertise in managing complex operations within a global company, while also learning the importance of teamwork and continuous improvement. Overall, Unilever offers a positive, growth-oriented and very rewarding work environment, making it a valuable chapter in my career.

Cons

Occasionally, some processes could take bit longer due to multiple approval layers, but this is common in large multinational companies and didn’t significantly affect the overall experience.
