Pros
Meal discount on shift. Literally just that.
Cons
During my tenure in Gloucestershire, I encountered significant challenges within the management structure. The leadership beyond the Team Leader level exhibited a concerning lack of engagement and accountability. Despite my year-long commitment to the role, I remained on probation for an extended period due to administrative delays. Specifically, it took six months to receive my "Progression Booklet," a critical document required to finalize my transition to the full Team Leader wage. Unfortunately, this process was never completed, as my line manager frequently misplaced or overlooked the document. It later appeared that these delays may have been related to budget considerations, potentially to maintain labor hours within acceptable targets. Additionally, I was consistently assigned late shifts, often finishing at 1 AM. Given my local residence, this scheduling was particularly challenging, especially when followed by an early morning shift starting at 6 AM. Operational responsibilities were frequently placed upon me beyond my designated role. Following the departure of the Deputy Manager for an extended leave, I assumed a leadership position, becoming the primary point of contact for critical incidents. Within my first six months, I liaised with law enforcement, highway authorities, and provided direct assistance to customers facing urgent issues, often without the support of senior management, who were frequently unavailable. Moreover, I became a confidant for colleagues expressing concerns about perceived unfair and potentially discriminatory treatment by upper management. One particularly concerning incident involved the discovery of a separate communication channel that appeared to include only certain managers. When I raised my concerns regarding the potential discriminatory nature of this practice with the site manager, my complaint was dismissed in an unprofessional manner. Furthermore, the workplace environment presented ongoing health and safety concerns. There appeared to be persistent pest control challenges, and structural issues with the roof that could pose potential hazards to both employees and customers. Despite these challenges, I remained dedicated to my role and committed to ensuring a safe and inclusive working environment for all staff and patrons
