Pros

Wiley has great benefits. The staff is intelligent and collaborative. Mid-level managers typically support staff with on-the-job training and and constructive criticism.

Cons

Wiley laid off a considerable number of people within the past year while executing a change in their business strategy. The layoffs negatively impacted the company culture resulting in considerable morale issues. Throughout the process staff received little communication about the skills Wiley needed in order to execute their new business strategy. Although senior management suggested that staff training would be part of the transformation none was forthcoming and instead jobs were moved to India.

Bad restructuring plans

Business Outlook

Pros

Good medical benefits, no overtime, nice office environment

Cons

Management not hands on and not open to views from lower level staff. Company strategies too traditional. The company is always in contingency plan and has been undergoing major restructuring plans, laying off many staff, yet on the other end hiring many new managers and directors with higher pay than the staff they laid off, talk about "cutting costs". Very demoralizing to current employees. Little opportunities for career advancement.

Pros

Decent benefits and bonus are given every year.

Cons

Management does to honor the company slogan of "Wiley the place to be" and "At Wiley people comes first, business second". Low morale. Higher management doesn't really appreciate the hard work of colleagues and often take the credit for.
