On a downhill path

Business Outlook

Pros

Flexible working time, nice team colleagues

Cons

- poor management, feels now like a political party where positions and promotions are decided behind closed doors - bonus was cut in half because an acquired company did not do as well as expected, yet dividend was increased - supposedly a people organization but people (employees who do the hard work) come last

Pros

Technology is reshaping the publishing industry in many ways. New opportunities arise. The Wiley family is still involved.

Cons

Wiley's People Organization is displaying remarkble ineptitude. Most senior leaders are uninspiring. A number of leaders are manipulating.

Leadership is Lost

Pros

Smart people who are invested in the value of Professional Learning work here. Strong solutions with a ton of potential.

Cons

Leadership for the Professional Learning Group is oblivious. Lack of product vision over last few years has led to stagnation while the market kept moving. Utter lack of brand recognition in the market can be attributed to lack of market knowledge on the part of brand leadership. No clear strategic plan. Siloed divisions and departments have no idea what the other is doing- total lack of connection and missed opportunity to collaborate.
