Pros

The codebase is large and mature, so you can learn a lot about complex legacy systems

Cons

There’s very little room to work on modern stacks or take ownership. Most of the work involves repetitive maintenance and data population tasks that don’t help you grow. It’s difficult to move between teams because managers often block transfers to keep good engineers for their own projects. Recognition and growth opportunities are rare, no matter how much initiative you show. and promotions often come with false promises that never materialize.
