Pros

Very friendly and open culture. Almost anyone you email and ask will meet you for coffee and talk about their work. Lots of opportunities for networking. Tons of interesting projects, although it depends on your area. Looks great to other employers on the resume.

Cons

Just be aware that very few STCs move on to be staff. This is not really a downside if you're not counting on it, but a lot of STCs spend a ton of time there waiting for a staff position that will never develop. This always seemed pretty clear to me, but some people hate it. For those who do make staff it's a great job, but there's relatively little room for advancement within the organization.

Pros

-Tax exemptions for internationals -Good access to knowledge and international travel -Great brand name on your CV, and good contacts to make to look for further work in the future -At times it can be a crazy amount of work, but still it is much more relaxed than the private sector -Great work for staff members who can practically delegate all their work to consultants and just relax while receiving great salary and benefits --- bad for consultants of course, who don’t receive benefits and may never become official staff members, never ever, no matter how hard they work

Cons

-Extremely bureaucratic and inefficient. Processes are slow slow slow… -Lack of transparency for employee hiring and promotions. -Bank staff takes advantage of contracted employees. Short term or long term contracted consultants don’t get benefits and do most staff’s work and can only work a certain amount of days per year -It only matters who you know inside the bank. Forget about HR or on-line job applications. Practically all jobs are given with inside emails and contacts.
