Pros

Google benefits, great people as peers

Cons

Google hiring policy makes everyone have to work multiple jobs because there are so many open heads. Middle management is somewhat incompetent, and there are more managers than non-managers. General Google culture (read: elitism) gets in the way of making good decisions.

Pros

Fantastic benefits Lovely colleagues - some of the most interesting people I have ever met worked with me there. Google is an incredible environment to work in - they are changing the world.

Cons

Very little opportunity for career development. Everyone who I worked with 5 years ago is still doing the exact same job. Fine if you want to do that, but if you are relatively young and want to progress in your career you basically have to leave the company. The only other option is to plan on moving to San Bruno, which really isn't good....

Pros

YouTube moves fast. The competitive landscape makes it really exciting and there's so much to be done that you won't get bored in a routine schedule.

Cons

I had bad experiences when it comes to performance evaluations and haven't received actionable feedback when needed. I guess it depends on your manager but the system has flaws and needs improvement.
