Pros

Lots of varied opportunities and support for moving around, good compensation/benefits, work-life balance is generally well addressed, lots of smart colleagues, committed to diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace

Cons

Management structure is stiff, large company so has difficulties creating room for ambitious individuals, some individuals 'working for the pension' takes away from the dynamism

Pros

Dedicated to best practices supported by a strong research center. Maintained a great program for professional development offering a number of schools, seminars and training for value additions through team effort and formation.

Cons

Amoco could have improved on technology development as were some of the other majors. I have had experience with Shell where I found an intense aptitude for technical formation and incentive for rewarding technical input.

Pros

Good safety culture, good benefits

Cons

After Macondo, everything has shifted so much towards safety, standardization and redundancy that it has become hard to become profitable. The company needs to have different standards, different rules, and different risk assessments for different regions.
