      Good place for an entry level candidate

      Pros

      There is good opportunities for growth and the entry level compensation is above average. BP is one of the major oils so it is what it is. There are opportunities to advance if you are willing to put in the work. I got my job through on campus interviews.

      Cons

      Some of the downsides are the amount of feedback you recieve for your work. In my opinion it is not where it should be yet. In addition I think the company could do more in terms of diversity and mentoring programs. Overall I've been happy with the way things have been going and see myself being here for awhile.

      Great starting out company, great retirement company, but don't stay there in your prime.

      Pros

      What you get from being underpaid is made up for in the learning opportunities for me, if you're looking for a good grounding in the oil industry, BP should be one of the better places to start a career.If you're looking for someplace to retire comfortably for work-life balance, BP is also good.

      Cons

      Low pay, lots of internal politics and management are all talk and no action, and they do not retain talent. To them, keeping their own ricebowl is priority, all talk and no action. They love to have "conversations" but do not like to do actual work

      Having to reapply for your job each year because management want to change something

      Pros

      The shares and bonus you get. Also the compressed working week they do but stopping in Jan as they are making cut backs but can still afford to sponser London 2012 which is going to cost them about £40M. The xmas parties were always good but sure we probably wont be getting one of these either this year.

      Cons

      Having to reapply for your job each year because management want to change something and then you end up with the same job anyway. Total waste of time. The air con in the office doesn't work. the food in the canteen is gross. My manager has no people skills at all.
