Describe the difference between a GET and POST request.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Adyen in Mar 2024
Interview
First was a phone interview with the recruiter who messaged me to go over my past experience and the position I'd be interviewing for, they were nice but didn't know many specifics about what the position actually did.
Next was a multi question assessment with situational questions, this wasn't hard but took some time and it was obvious some parts of the questions were looking for a specific way to handle situations. The feedback I received on the assessment was "the lead who reviewed your assessment said you did a really good job, and you got extra points on X question for mentioning Y.
Next was a call with a lead on the team and a team member.
This call was very strange, for a company that pushed culture as much as they did throughout the interview process, the 2 people I interviewed with acted like it was a burden that they had to do an interview. They would abruptly correct me on company culture specifics (I asked a question about the challenges of working with people globally and before I even finished they cut me off and said "we don't call them challenges, we call them opportunities"). None of the technical questions I was asked related to topics from the assessment or the job description which caught me off guard a bit and led to me answering a question that I admitted I didn't know much about the topic to which the interviewers both laughed at my answer.
Overall the process felt great up until the third step. As opposed to how I've always heard interviews shouldn't be one sided (i.e. its not just a company seeing if you are worthy of being an employee, both sides should be seeing if it is a good fit) it certainly felt like right off the bat of my team interview they had no interest in really hearing from me or moving forward.
additionally the team lead was quite awkward, he mumbled often and started every sentence with "um", which just came off strange for a team lead.

Interview
The first interview with HR was pleasant, followed by a take-home assignment.
The assignment was highly technical and required using GitHub and installing multiple tools on a local computer. However, GitHub knowledge was not mentioned in the job description. While it was listed as a bonus question that I could have skipped, I still attempted it. Unfortunately, this led to issues that damaged my personal laptop, forcing me to complete the assignment using my work laptop instead.
I progressed to the next round, but it felt like more of a courtesy than a genuine advancement. This round was conducted on-site.
In the end, I was rejected because I didn't answer their follow-up questions to their satisfaction and because they were looking for someone with prior experience and product knowledge.
It felt like a waste of time going to the office for the interview. If they specifically wanted a candidate with experience and existing product knowledge, they should have either recruited internally or clearly stated these requirements in the job description instead of listing them as "good to have" qualifications.
