I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Airbnb
Interview
Contacted me through LinkedIn, very formulaic phone screen; very yes/no questions, very meh experience. Was not surprised when I received a rejection letter three weeks later, but since they never question me about my experience how would they know what they’re missing
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Airbnb (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2019
Interview
For a company that never fails to emphasize their mission of "belonging" and being a host, it was disappointing. They were super fast with responding and were such good hosts up until they decided not to move forward with me. I made it to the last interview which was two cultural assessments. Based off the other reviews, I thought it would be fun as it should be more casual and more like a get to know you. I can't say that was what I experienced. One of my interviewers was evidently impatient and uninterested with an underlying rude tone when asking me to clarify on my answers. It was shocking and ironic since it's a cultural fit interview. That alone left a really bad taste in my mouth.
I didn't expect to get an offer. A week later, the recruiter nicely reached out to me to let me know I was still under consideration. I followed up a week later and was told I'd get a call from the team about it. The next day I got an automated rejection letter. A few days later, I got a personal letter from the manager requesting to schedule a phone call. That phone call never happened and that manager never responded to me. Sounds like it was a little disorganized and there was miscommunications but it would have helped if they owned up to it instead of just ghosting.
Overall, they're great when they want you but once they decide not to move forward, that hospitality completely disappears and I think that says a lot.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Airbnb (Portland, OR) in Dec 2018
Interview
Spoke to the hiring manager and then another team member on the phone. I was asked to come in for an in person interview, but they had to figure out when they were coming to town and they were going to let me know. Then I never heard from them after that.a

Question 1
Basic phone interview questions: about my past experience, what I'm looking for, etc. I did this twice.
