I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Bloomberg (Sydney) in Jun 2014
Interview
Applied - 1 week wait for e-mail about phone interview and time. Few days later had phone interview, on time and very prompt. Straight into questions. Very straight forward questions:
- Why choose bloomberg
- What attracted you to this role
- What qualities can you bring to us
- Explain what the role of sales and analytic involve at bloomberg
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The interviewer gave me a scenario question at the end, something about the terminals. E.g. Bloomberg and jardines have terminals placed, the consultant is forced to do something etc and how would you react as a employee and representative of bloomberg.
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Bloomberg (Hong Kong) in Jun 2014
Interview
Group interview: how would you plan to invest $1M for her/him. Actually the interviewer is testing your knowledge about current news. So you need to come up with investment ideas supported by recent news. (your investment ideas DO NOT matter) I think the interviewer is trying to screen off those who are not genuinely interested in finance.
Then they give a job shadowing for about 15 mins. Don't be misled by the job title "analytics", it means telling Bloomberg users about how to use its terminal. It's like a chat room on the terminal, so you answer whatever questions that come. And sometimes you need to pick up phones calls.
Got a phone interview after one week sending out resume. The interview questions were behavioral and hey valued the leadership and ability to group of the candidate slightly more than other qualities for this position. The interviewer were nice. But the response was quite slow, had to waited a few weeks for the notification. Overall, it was a moderate experience but Bloomberg was definitely a reputational company to work for.
