I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Booz Allen Hamilton (Stafford, VA) in Aug 2009
Interview
The first interview was basic - the HR contact to ensure that I was interested. The second phone interview was 45 minutes going over my background and the job description. I was flown out for a panel interview two weeks later for the same info covered on the phone. I was told that the interview was successful and the HR person would get a hold for me for further details. That was the last I heard from the entire company - several e-mails and voice mails that I left later, I finally seen the job that I was interviewing for re-posted a couple of days later. Being that this would have been a big move for me and my family, I thought it was very unprofessional that absolutely nobody returned any message to keep me posted - even if I didn't get the job!

Describe how your background fits into this position.
I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Booz Allen Hamilton (Colorado Springs, CO) in Jul 2009
Interview
Contacted via e-mail to schedule an interview. Ended up meeting 4 people for the interview from the hiring manager to the team leads. Asked more questions hypothetically than substance based from my previous training, education and experience. Hiring manager was cordial and explained the interview process as I was only told to prepare for a 2 hour interview. When I got the e-mail there were several names listed so I thought I would be interviewing with a panel but was instead escorted into a tiny room with a small table and two chairs where they each came in one after the other to discuss my resume, the culture at BAH and so forth. Overall it was a good experience but could be intimidating and stressful for someone not prepared. Each person seemed to take a fair amount of notes on things I said so I'm sure they compared notes post interview to determine my truthfulness. They did immediately validate my parking when I came in and one of the recruiters brought me into the interview room. I did notice my name was on a piece of paper outside the door to let people know the room was occupied and who was in there.

What would your first step be to market our capability
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Booz Allen Hamilton in Jan 2009
Interview
A recruiter contacted me in response to my online application at the BAH career site. The screening interview with the recruiter covered the job description and duties, location of the job, career growth prospects, my background and experience, and the compensation package that I received at my previous employer.
Following the screening, I had onsite interviews with three team members - a senior associate, an associate and some type of project or program manager (possibly a senior associate). The first two interviewers covered mostly technical aspects of the job. The last interview was more situational/behavioral.
Following the on site interview I had a follow up telephonic interview with a senior associate and associate at a different location since they were part of the extended team.
There's really nothing about the interviews that are hard. My guess is they are looking for good team players, self awareness, and confidence.
The interview scheduling process was good and well organized. The actual interviews were somewhat less well organized (in terms of interviewer prep as far as i could tell) but still good. The post interview phase process was bad - I did not hear back from BAH. Very strange and definitely a negative.
Also, one of the senior associates I spoke with (on the phone) was somewhat curt and perhaps verging on rudeness by cutting me off mid-answer to his open ended questions. He apologized each time by saying that he had very little time. I would have expected him to make the time for an interview - especially if he had to ask open ended questions - but thats just me :)
At one point his attitude got to me and I gave him a bit of his own medicine - that might explain the no offer :)
